Happy 8th Birthday Tyler Brown

"There has never been, nor will there ever be, anything quite so special as the love between a mother and a son" Author: Unknown

This quote is so very true. My little man is just such a sweet sweet boy. Now...that is not to say that he isn't a world class stinker, that he doesn't drive his sister crazy, that he isn't turning into a stinky boy, and that he doesn't try my patience to the max. But it does mean that at the end of every night that boy still kisses me on the lips, that my little boy still holds my hand walking down the hall at school in front of his friends, and that sweet boy let's me yell "Way to go Pumpkin" out loud at his baseball game in front of his team and doesn't get mad!!!
I sit here stunned that he is turning 8 today. If I try really hard I can still feel that tiny little baby in my arms. I wish there was a way to slow down time so he would just stop getting so big.
Tyler is ALL boy. He loves all sports and I bet if you went toe to toe with him about current NFL trivia he would probably win. He loves playing baseball and hit his first homerun just this month. He tried basketball for the first time this year and discovered that not only did he like it, but he is actually quite a good little hustler--he can thank his momma for his "Strohl ass" which comes in handy for guarding his opponents.
I am so proud of the young man he is turning in to. I love his good manners. I am just thrilled watching how kind he is to younger kids. And to be honest, being at the ball field watching him play is pretty much my favorite place to be!
Happy Birthday Tyler Brown. I love you more than you will ever know!

This year was Tyler's turn for a birthday party. He chose to have a flag football party in the park. Here are a few pictures from the fun afternoon!

Our girl turned 6 today.

Six. It just doesn't seem possible!!! Emma has grown up just so fast. This year has been a BIG one. Emma started kindergarten and has just taken off. She is reading and writing up a storm. And my goodness does she love to draw! She is so talented and creative that I am constantly amazed by her art work. She is still loving gymnastics and has almost perfected her cartwheel. She still loves the Disney Princesses but Barbie may just nudge them out as a favorite during this next year. We still have training wheels on the bike because she is just not that interested in learning to ride it. I know that as soon as it becomes important to her they will be gone in half a second.
Each and every day Emma makes me smile and laugh. Her sense of humor is so far beyond her age. She is tenderhearted but thick skinned at the same time. She is kind, helpful, a bit bossy, and just incredibly smart. She is so sweet and loving to everyone. She is beautiful inside and out. I wish each of you could spend more time with her because if you think you love her now I can honestly tell you that the more you get to know her the more in love you fall.

Here is Emma's birthday interview from this year.

Emma Marie Brown...I love you to the moon and back double. I am blessed beyond measure to be able to be your mom. I wish I could slow down the passage of time because I don't want you to grow up too fast. Love you Doodle!!!

January through March 2013

I guess I should not make New Year's Resolutions because I obviously do not keep them! The blog has not been updated and those ten pounds are still on my butt! Oh well, such is life.
How about I make it up to you by posting some pictures from the first of the year until now.

We have lived in Tucson for over 10 years and have made many trips up and down I10. We had always noticed the sign for Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Farm but had never stopped. I am so glad that we finally made a point to go visit it. The kids saw ALL kinds of animals (the ostriches were actually the least favorite because they are so mean) and the kids had a blast!

February always brings the Superbowl and with the Superbowl comes a visit from Nana. She actually took the kids BACK to Rooster Cogburn's (see I told you we had fun), got to go to Tyler's special Persons Day at school, was here to buy LOTS of books at Book Fair, and got to watch Tyler play basketball. T was a grump on the morning she left so their annual couch picture isn't the greatest;) Here are some of the highlights from February.
We visited the Children's Museum on Phoenix. It was HUGE, there was so much to do and see. We had such a wonderful day!

This was the first season that Tyler decided to play basketball. He LOVED it and actually did an amazing job keeping his elbows to himself (well, MOST of the time).

When the weather report said that we had a chance for "blizzard like" conditions here in Tucson in February we all kinda just laughed. But the weatherman was right! We had a blizzard. It snowed for hours. It was such a treat for the kids because it started during the school day and continued through the night. The snow was all gone by 10am the next morning but it sure was pretty while it lasted.

It is now March and we have had a wonderful month so far. There was a Daddy/Daughter dance at school where Marshall and Emma had a wonderful date night. But what has made this March  especially wonderful is that we finally got to meet our sweet baby Hudson. Here are some pictures from the dance and our trip.

We love babies, spending time with family, and DOGS--see below! =)

Thanks Aunt Katie!!! What a special treat she gave Tyler, he got to go to a baseball game, meet the coach and players, AND have his hat signed.
